Spend the summer in the great outdoors! Girl Scouts of North East Ohio is looking for fun, energetic people to join our summer camp team. You will work with girls aged 5-17. You will receive free room and board while camp is in session, and make lifelong friends with other camp staff, including international staff. If you want to spend the summer making memories, and having fun, all while working with girls in an amazing camp environment, this is the job for you!
Position Summary: The Assistant Camp Director/Resident Camp is in part responsible in overseeing the implementation, training and assigning of duties to the entire summer resident camp staff. She/he will also assist in carrying out the budget and business operations for the resident camp season. The incumbent ensures that all outdoor programs support the program plan of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. Under the direction of the Resident Camp Director the Assistant Camp Director/Resident Camp will also help in evaluating current season employees while helping make recommendations for the next season.
Major Accountabilities: Assist Camp Director in training and assigning the entire camp staff; assist Camp Director in planning and carrying out the budget and business operation; assist Camp Director in developing and enforcing procedures, routines and practices for the camp operation, which conform to GSUSA, GSNEO and ACA standards; work with Camp Director to plan all aspects of summer program; responsible for informing and guiding the staff of rules, program plans and solves problems during the girls\’ stay at c responsible for checking all site conditions to ensure they are in good working order and report any problems to the correct person; report all incident/accidents to Camp Director immediately; supervise and direct all aspects of Resident Camp when Camp Director is not available; assist Camp Director in evaluating current season and help make recommendations for next season; maintain Girl Scouts of the USA, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio and the American Camping Association standards at all times; as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA, ensure that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work; upholds the council Customer Service policy and strives to ensure that all GSNEO customers receive superior service; performs other duties as assigned to promote the successful implementation of GSNEO\’s goals/objectives.
Requirements: Lives on camp property during resident camp (June-August); successful record of experience in administrative or supervisory capacity (preferably in organized camp); successful experience in planning and implementing outdoor living and activity experiences in camps; financial management skills and administrative ability; youth-oriented program background a plus; demonstrated ability to successfully handle conflict resolution at all levels with a variety of people, including external customers; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
